Bunnies in the city
Non-profit association Folie/Culture [Craziness/Culture] is behind an interesting project: to decorate 10 man hole covers in Quebec City. Ten local artists took the challenge of intersecting onlookers’ gaze with the gazes of the roadway. The works will be displayed in the future Xi’an park underneath the Dufferin-Montmorency highway.
One of these artists is my teacher. Paryse Martin works at the Visual Arts School of Laval University. While visiting her workshop, she showed me the drawing of her man cover hole design.

With her permission, I am reproducing it. Her concept is simple yet brilliant: to bring back bunnies in the city. Those furry animals are part of our collective mind yet they disappeared in reality from our surroundings decades ago. The artist plays on that duality.
It is important to underline the work done by Folie/Culture. This non-profit association offers cultural and social activities to raise awareness to mental health issues. In doing so, they try to promote works of art that display personal research on topics such as emotion and craziness.
